چکیده

Abstract Pollen and plant macrofossils are often well-preserved in coastal sediments, providing a palaeoenvironmental record of sea-level landscape change. In this study, we examine the pollen macrofossil assemblages well-dated saltmarsh sediment core from southwest Newfoundland, Canada, to establish recent vegetation land use change, increase knowledge anthropogenic activities area develop chronozones for reconstructing marsh accumulation rates representation remains wetland profile. Grouping into upland allows local events related hydrological change be separated landscape-scale changes. The records indicate general acceleration rise ca. ad 1700. sedge attest multiple phases rhizome encroachment during inferred periods marine regression. Two identified profile; first associated with settlement St. George’s Bay 1800, signalled by increases Plantago lanceolata Ambrosia pollen; second permanent Port au peninsula 1850, indicated increased P. Effects of Shoreline Dynamics on Saltmarsh Vegetation

We evaluated the impact of shoreline dynamics on fringing vegetation density at mid- and low-marsh elevations at a high-energy site in the northern Gulf of Mexico. Particularly, we selected eight unprotected shoreline stretches (75 m each) at a historically eroding site and measured their inter-annual lateral movement rate using the DSAS method for three consecutive years. We observed high inte...

Land cover land use mapping and change detection analysis using geographic information system and remote sensing

Land cover/land use categories are relevant components in land management. Understanding how land cover/land use change over time is necessary to assess the consequences of humans and natural stressors on the earth’s environment and resources. The aim of the study was to map and monitor the spatial and temporal change in land cover/land use for the periods of 1977, 1991 and 2016 and to predict ...
